A101-130 ,Krupp V60 Under EUROFIMA, SEK received in 1967 thirty maneuver Diesel engines of the V60 (A.101 – A.130) type. These gradually replaced the USA/TC series Da 51-70 steam engines. These V60 engines are also known as “kroupakia” (little Krupps) a name derived from the German company producing them. They still successfully provide maneuvering services at most major stations. A301 – A325 – A201 ALCO’S DIESEL LOCOMOTIVES In 1961 the Greek Government Railways received from the United States the first series of ten ALCO type RS8 (DL532B) Diesel engines with the codes 201 – 210, also known in Greece as “diakosarakia”(two hundreds). Since then and for the five following years a series of orders followed to the ALCO industry. Ten ALCO FPD7 (DL500C) with codes 301 – 310, and seven ALCO RSD34 (DL543) with codes 321 – 327 were ordered. They have probably been the most well known and reliable engines ever used in the Greek railway network. H561 - 566 Near the end of 1997, after the completion of the trial tests in Germany, the first (out of 6 in total) H561 electric engines was brought to Greece, for the first time in the history of the Hellenic rail in a nationwide network level. Manufactured by Siemens/Henschel, it is similar to the “Eurosprinter” type used in many European networks such as DB – AG – RENFE, etc.The speed limit is up to 200Km/h and has a nominal power of 5.500KW. Its weight is just 80 tons, and was achieved after the radical redesign of the carriage to enable it to be used on the OSE network. A411 – 430 In 1989 OSE, in an attempt to modernize its running stock and cover its shortage in engines, received from the German Railways “DB”, 20 V221 type Krauss Maffei Diesel engines also known as “UFOs” or “whales”. These engines were leased for eight years, after they were modified in Italy. The V221s were used mainly in passenger trains. In 1998 they were stored in Renti's engine shed and none of them is operational.
